Xoom Tracking: How to Check a Xoom Transfer Status
To track a Xoom transfer, sign in and open the Xoom Track Transactions page, or tap Activity in the Xoom app and pick the transaction. Per the Xoom Help Center, Xoom also sends status updates by email or text, as of October 2026.
Most transfers reach the recipient in minutes, and some take up to a few days, according to the same Xoom help article. This guide covers where to check a status, what drives the timing, why a transfer gets delayed or canceled, and what a cash pickup recipient needs to collect the money.
Where can you check a Xoom transfer status?
There are three places to check a Xoom transfer. The Track Transactions page on the website shows the current status of every transfer on your account. The Xoom app shows the same list under its Activity tab. Email and text alerts push updates to you as the transfer moves, so you do not have to keep checking.
The Xoom app help article says the app can text status updates once push notifications are on and you tap Get Text Updates after confirming a transaction. You can also tap Activity and select any transaction to see where it stands. On the web, the Track Transactions page is the same view, and Xoom says that page also tells you if there is anything you can do to speed the transfer up.
Tracking requires the sender's login. The recipient does not track through the sender's account; they rely on the transaction number the sender shares, which is covered in the cash pickup section below.
Is Xoom a PayPal service?
Yes. Xoom describes itself as a PayPal service on its own homepage. A Xoom transfer is tracked inside Xoom, through the Xoom website or the Xoom app, rather than in the PayPal app.
The Xoom homepage carries the title "Xoom, a PayPal Service". For how PayPal prices its own cross border payments, see the PayPal international fees guide.
How long does a Xoom transfer take?
Most Xoom transfers arrive in minutes, and some take up to a few days. The receipt carries a delivery date, and Xoom says funds will arrive by that date. Three choices change the timing most: the destination country, the payout method, and how you pay for the transfer, whether bank account, debit card, or credit card.
The Xoom transfer time article lists those three factors: the country, whether you choose bank deposit, cash pickup, or home delivery, and whether you pay with a bank account, debit card, or credit card. The Xoom homepage footer adds that funds will be delivered by the date listed on the transaction receipt, frequently within minutes, and that good funds availability, compliance reviews, systems availability, partner hours, time zones, and local holidays can make it take longer.
Payout options on the Xoom homepage include bank accounts, debit cards, mobile wallets, UPI, PIX, cash pickup, and cash delivery. Bank deposits follow the receiving bank's hours, so a transfer sent late on a Friday can wait until the next business day in the destination country.
What affects Xoom transfer speed?
The table below collects every timing factor Xoom names on its own help pages and homepage. Each row lists the factor, what it does to the clock, and what the sender can control. Most delays trace back to either a review, a bank funded payment that has not cleared, or a payout partner that is not open yet.
Factor | Effect on timing | What you can do |
Destination country | Changes the typical delivery window | Check the delivery date on the receipt |
Payout method | Bank deposit, cash pickup, and home delivery run on different schedules | Pick the method that matches the deadline |
Payment method | Bank account, debit card, and credit card are processed differently | Allow time to verify a bank account |
Higher value bank funded transfer | Xoom may wait for the bank payment, 2 to 3 extra business days | Send earlier when the amount is large |
Internal review | Paused until identity, payment, or instructions are confirmed | Answer document requests quickly |
Partner hours, time zones, holidays | Payout waits for the partner or bank to open | Check partner hours before sending |
Sources for each row: the Xoom transfer time article for the first three, and the Xoom delay article for the 2 to 3 extra business days, reviews, and partner hours, all as of October 2026.
Why is my Xoom transfer delayed?
A delayed Xoom transfer usually means one of four things: a review is checking your identity or payment, Xoom is waiting for a bank payment to clear on a larger transfer, the payout partner is outside its hours or on a holiday, or there is a technical issue. The tracking page is the first place to look for an action you can take.
The Xoom delay article names internal reviews by Xoom or its payment partners to confirm identity, payment methods, or transfer instructions. For some higher value transfers, it says Xoom may wait for the payment to arrive from your bank account, which can add 2 to 3 business days. It also lists partner days and hours, time zone differences, bank holidays, and technical issues. Partner hours are on the Xoom locations page.
To cut the odds of a hold, the Xoom Help Center suggests preparing any documents Xoom or the recipient's bank might need, leaving time to verify your bank account, and double checking recipient details before you send.
Why was my Xoom transfer canceled?
Xoom cancels a transfer when it cannot complete it within its rules: a review request went unanswered, the payment bounced, the currency does not fit the recipient account, the recipient would go over a limit, or the account or funds are restricted. Keeping your email current is the main way to avoid missing a review request.
The full list on the Xoom cancellation article covers seven reasons: a breach of the User Agreement or the law, no reply to a request for information, insufficient funds in the payment method, a currency the recipient's bank account does not support, a recipient who would receive more than allowed from you or other senders, a suspended or terminated account, and funds seized under a court order or other legal process.
Can you cancel a Xoom transfer?
You can usually cancel a Xoom money transfer if the money has not reached the recipient yet. Phone reloads and bill payments normally complete within minutes, so they generally cannot be canceled after authorization. If the Cancel option is missing, the transfer is already complete or the funds cannot be reversed.
Per the Xoom cancel article, open the Activity List, select the transaction, click the Cancel icon, and confirm in the pop up. The same article says refunds can depend on the funding source used for the payment, and points to the Xoom legal page for the full cancellation and refund policy.
What does a cash pickup recipient need?
A cash pickup recipient needs the Xoom transaction number from the sender plus an accepted government photo ID. The exact ID list changes by country, and some countries add local documents. The sender should share the transaction number as soon as the transfer is confirmed, since the recipient cannot collect without it.
In Jamaica, the Xoom Jamaica pickup article asks for the Xoom tracking number and a TRN card or driver's license. The Xoom Dominican Republic pickup article asks for the transaction number and a passport or cédula. For Mexico specific payout options across providers, see the Mexico remittance guide.
How does Xoom tracking compare to MoneyGram tracking?
Xoom tracking runs through the sender's signed in account, on the website or in the app. MoneyGram lets anyone with the reference number and the sender's last name look up a transfer without logging in. Both providers give cash pickup recipients a number to bring to the counter along with photo ID.
The Xoom Track Transactions page sits behind the account login, while MoneyGram's tracker uses an 8 digit reference number, as explained in the MoneyGram tracking guide. If you send through both, keep each receipt, since the numbers are not interchangeable.
What this page does not cover
This page does not cover Xoom fees or exchange rates, sending limits, or account verification steps. Xoom shows the fee and the amount the recipient gets before you send, and it earns money on currency conversion in addition to fees, per the Xoom homepage. Use the Xoom fee calculator for a live quote rather than any figure on a third party page.
Methodology and sources
Every timing, status, and requirement on this page comes from Xoom's own pages, fetched on October 21, 2026: the transfer time article, the delay article, the cancellation reasons article, the cancel a transaction article, the Xoom app article, the country pickup articles linked above, and the Xoom homepage. Xoom can change these pages at any time, so check the live versions before relying on a delivery date.
