A private key is a unique alphanumeric code that grants access to and control over a cryptocurrency wallet, allowing the owner to send assets and sign transactions. It is the cryptographic equivalent of a password and must be kept secret and secure as anyone with access to the private key of a wallet can access the funds associated with it.
