A New Opportunity for Gateway Builders
Developers build on Circle Gateway to give users a single USDC balance that is usable across supported chains.
Until now, if Gateway builders wanted to extend the deposit experience to more assets and chains, they needed to build the orchestration infrastructure themselves. Either you take custody of the user’s funds mid-flight (and assume the trust risk), or you ship and maintain custom multi-chain contracts (and assume the engineering risk). Most teams don’t have the time or the tooling to do this non-custodially in one click.

How Gateway Smart Deposits Work
Deposit USDC into Circle Gateway from any supported chain in seconds instead of minutes, non-custodially and through Eco, with no custom contracts to ship.
The Smart Deposits integration leverages Eco Routes and Programmable Addresses under the hood: Eco quotes a price upfront, receives assets on an Eco-supported chain, routes through a fast finality chain for a fast, cost-efficient path, and delivers funds to Gateway in seconds. Users never give up custody or incur execution risk along the way.
Three mechanics make this work.
1. One deposit, from any Eco-supported chain
Eco issues a deposit address to the user on their source chain. The user funds the deposit one of two ways: send any asset directly to the address, or, for a gasless flow, sign a permit or authorization that Eco relays on their behalf. Both are single-user actions, and no custom integration contracts are required.
What you get: a one-step deposit flow that works from any supported chain, with an optional gasless path so users don't need native gas tokens to fund their Gateway balance.
2. Funds in seconds, not minutes
Once Eco receives funds (or a signed authorization) on the source chain, it fills the deposit directly from its network USDC inventory and deposits it into Gateway. Unlike the standard Gateway path, which waits for the deposit to finalize on the source chain and accepts only USDC, Smart Deposits enable users to see funds in Gateway in seconds while settlement happens in the background. If the user deposits an asset other than USDC, Eco's routing converts it to USDC to complete the deposit automatically.
What you get: deposit latency measured in seconds, regardless of which chain or asset the user is depositing from.
3. Non-custodial on every transaction
Settlement is verifiable end-to-end. The user's USDC moves through Eco's contracts without Eco ever taking custody, and the proving path is self-contained.
