Eco Launches Routes in Beta to Prepare for V1 Launch

Routes, the Eco Protocol’s permissionless, cross-chain liquidity layer for streamlining onchain UX, is live across Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Mantle.

One Click. Full Send. Buying a new pair of sneakers, subscribing to your favorite streamer, depositing funds to your fintech app — all can be done in seconds. Relentless iteration of digital experiences has eliminated nearly all friction, creating seamlessly fast interactions. This is an experience that billions of app users worldwide take for granted—except when it comes to onchain apps. How will onchain app developers replicate this seamless experience?

Onchain apps have emerged rapidly since Ethereum's launch in 2015, with thousands of applications now spanning dozens of blockchain networks. Yet, the current landscape remains highly fragmented, creating significant barriers that limit these apps to only the most technically advanced users. Developers face critical challenges in expanding their applications across different blockchains, while users encounter complex, unfriendly interfaces that compromise trust and discourage widespread adoption.

Eco’s solution simplifies onchain app experiences, starting with stablecoins. Eco is designed to be the definitive protocol for efficient, interoperable stablecoin liquidity across apps and blockchains — making any onchain action, to any connected app, a simple one-click stablesend. By integrating Eco, applications can instantly access a robust network of stablecoin liquidity and simplify their user experience, removing critical friction points in the onchain experience.

Eco Routes is just the first step in achieving hyper-efficient infrastructure for stablecoins. Routes allow developers to source liquidity with the flexibility to configure and choose what makes the most sense for their app regarding speed, cost, and trust neutrality. Builders should be able to decide what’s best for their solution.

Today, we’re launching Eco Routes in beta, starting with Native and Hyperlane Routes, for any Ethereum app or rollup interested in seamlessly accepting stablecoins from any connected network in one easy integration. Routes initially support liquidity across Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Mantle networks (with more launching soon!). Finally, users on these networks no longer worry about what stablecoin to use or what network to connect to whenever they want to use any Eco-connected app.

“We're thrilled to release Eco Routes as a novel solution for developers to source permissionless stablecoin liquidity and simplify cross-chain transactions for their users. And we’re thrilled to work with other leading projects like Hyperlane to bring Routes to launch. Routes is just the first step for Eco to support builders in raising the bar for onchain user experience.” - Ryne Saxe, CEO at Eco Inc.
“Intent-based product experiences will soon become the norm due to their speed advantage and ability to leverage liquidity from arbitrary sources. We are delighted that Eco is one of the first to recognize that building on top of Hyperlane allows Routes to have more expansive coverage and lower the time to market.” - Nam Chu Hoai, Co-Founder & CTO at Abacus Works

How Do Routes Work on Eco?

Routes is optimized for apps’ unique needs by creating a new intent-based framework for transferring stablecoins across rollups, with flexible options for proving transaction fulfillment. Eco Routes balance speed, cost, and security. In beta, Native and Hyperlane Routes are available, and more will be added to ensure that developers always have the flexibility to choose their preferred Route.

The Native Route uses Eco Inc’s Cross-L2 Actions to create a way to transfer assets cross-chain without needing trusted intermediaries. While this approach maximized security, it came with a drawback: more expensive settlement costs.

As an alternative, Eco introduced the Hyperlane Route. Using Hyperlane's permissionless messaging protocol, Eco created a transfer validation method, which dramatically reduces settlement costs.

Unlike the Native Route, the Hyperlane Route prioritizes cost and speed without unduly compromising fundamental security principles. This approach transforms blockchain routing from an expensive, slow process to an efficient, affordable mechanism—potentially revolutionizing how value moves across decentralized networks.

During Devcon, Nam Chu Hoai, Co-Founder and CTO of Abacus Works, the company building Hyperlane, showcased a demo of the Hyperlane Route.

Routes Supercharge Any Ethereum App to Easily Onboard Stablecoin Holders

  • One, Simple Transaction Fee: Apps can easily accept multiple stablecoins across L2s and L3s as easily as one action. Eco is not a router or aggregator.
  • Flexible Transfer Options via Routes: Eco provides apps with a choice of Route, starting with the Native and Hyperlane Routes. Decide what variables you want to prioritize between speed, cost, and security.
  • Simplify User Deposits of Stablecoins to One Action: Apps will instantly expand their stablecoin offering for users while maintaining their preferred accepted stablecoin. Apps with Eco integrated can allow seamless, low-cost deposits from Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Mantle.
  • Highly Capital Efficient: Transaction fillers settle directly with the user, eliminating capital loss from price volatility and slippage.
  • Any Ethereum L2/L3 Can Integrate Eco: Supporting new L2s/L3s on Eco is simple and permissionless. Developers only need to deploy Eco’s contracts and coordinate with fillers to bootstrap liquidity. They do not need to work with specialized operators or governance protocols.
  • Secure, Cross-Chain Stablecoin Settlement: Built on an intent-centric architecture, allowing transfers to be executed before settlement. A user only pays if their transfer executes on the destination chain first, eliminating the risk of losing capital for the user.

About Hyperlane

Hyperlane is the open interoperability framework. It empowers developers to connect anywhere onchain and build applications that can easily and securely communicate between multiple blockchains. Importantly, Hyperlane is fully open-source and always permissionless to build with.
